Looking forward to 2025
We got an accountant to run through our books and it has been a thoroughly fascinating experience. They quite literally pore through every single transaction in every single account. And I love it.
2025 is a fresh start for the studio, now incorporated in the UK & US.
Our flagship product is Main Squeeze. We’ll find customers with exciting marketing and retail partnerships. I’m also looking forward to automating internal functions with AI agents e.g. email marketing, customer support.
Our business model is consulting. Websites and apps. Product development contracts - one at a time. Multi-month retainers for predictable cashflow.
We’re kicking off next year with organised books and predictable income, and I couldn’t be more pleased. My dream to run sustainably is alive!
We’re using the profit-first accounting model, which means:
We separate Income, Operations, Tax, Owners Pay and Profit.
When we receive any income, we split it between these accounts.
This way, the government is accounted for, owners are catered to, profit is prioritised and expenses are constrained. We’ll adjust the exact percentages per time depending on what the business needs.
Twelve months ago, I was running what felt like three studios on the side. I operated them as different teams, all largely self-funded. My expenses were unaccounted for and there was no clear business model.
Today it’s one studio. Paying for itself. Developing a consumer brand. Three months of runway and a clear path to extending it.
And we’re still making passion projects! EDH Episode 2 just launched, and we’ve been making improvements to the Album Cover Bank.
